Who Else Could Cross-Over into Tekken 7? Here’s Our Wishlist.

tekken7_SC01

Bandai Namco has a smash-hit franchise that’s doing well for itself with the latest entry. It’s beautiful, it’s combat is fluid, and it’s easily one of the most enjoyable fighters on the market. It’s already crossed-over with Capcom’s Street Fighter series and is now preparing to do another cross-over with Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XV by bringing Noctis into the arena.

Because of their cross-over events, we’ve only begun to see the potential in one such game, and what it is fully capable of. With Yoshimitsu constantly appearing in other games, we’ve only begun to see what cross-overs could happen, and when they can happen. Lucky for us, it seems these partnerships are great, and extremely beneficial for all parties involved. So guess what? We’ve sat down, debated, and made a list of 7 cross-overs we’d love to see in Tekken 7 in the future.

7. Voldo | Soul Calibur | Bandai Namco

Voldo is quite possibly one of the best fits for Tekken 7. In the Soul Calibur franchise, he’s one of the closest ranged fighters. He’s one that required quick reflexes in order to execute his combos efficiently in order for him to excel in combat. His special moves make him quite possibly one of the best fighters out there since they are almost all close range. Due to the fact he’s not as heavy as a hitter as the others, Voldo does require some situational awareness, and would require players to use his hit-and-run tactics.

Unlike Yoshimitsu – a fighter that commonly appears on Soul Calibur as a cross-over star – he’s not as versatile and not near as difficult to master. Luckily for us, him and Yoshimitsu have a past, and it’s not painted in rainbows and unicorns. Instead they don’t really seem to care for each other, which leads to a perfect motivation for him to appear in Tekken 7, and could make its case as a solid story element in a later DLC.

6. Crunch | Paragon | Epic Games

If you’ve ever played Epic Games’ third-person action MOBA title Paragon then you know why Crunch is worth mentioning. In the game, Crunch is one of the most versatile support/carry. He’s a bruise that knows how to leave a few marks against his foes. Luckily, he’s also a machine, a gigantic, jet-powered robot. The best motivation to him appearing in Tekken 7 as a cross-over appearance could be easily told through a rivalry with the Jack series of killer robots.

The only downside here? Crunch himself doesn’t have a lot of backstory and if there is any, it eludes us, and leaves a lot of room for Epic Games to team up with Bandai Namco to create. For now, that just leaves Crunch a major variable, and one we could easily hope to see enter the Tekken 7 arena.

5. Protagonist| Dark Souls | From Software

As far-fetched as this one could be, there is still a lot of potential out there, and Noctis has given us a glimpse at that potential. Luckily for us, this one could be quite reasonable, and could definitely utilize the skill-sets we see in the Souls franchise. Luckily, this also means we could see a character such as the Curse Bearer, the Chosen Undead, or even the Ashen one make an appearance as a close range fighter.

Since Dark Souls already utilizes a nifty little skill set of combos, we could only hope to see more come out of this game, and show off what our hero is capable of. Unfortunately, his or her reason for appearing could be heavily questioned upon, making this one a less-likely happening. Thankfully, the fighting style is already there, we’ve used cat claws, we’ve used short swords, and we’ve even used our own fists to survive. If that doesn’t scream Tekken 7, then we don’t know what does.

4. Vanessa Lewis | Virtua Fighter | SEGA

Unfortunately, we haven’t seen a Virtua Fighter series in a minute. While one entry did release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it didn’t do as well as anyone would have hoped, and it is a shame. It’s an enjoyable series with a unique cast all bundled into one big tournament-themed brawl. Out of this huge brawl comes a woman by the name of Vanessa Lewis. Just like Tekken 7 characters, Virtua Fighter did a good job at staying realistic.

Characters all used real fighting styles, none of them deviated from that, and kept it true. Luckily for Vanessa, since she does exist in the normal world, just as most of the fighters in Tekken she’d be easy to implement within the series. Since Tekken itself is themed around a tournament, it’s a tournament she could easily partake in, and show why she’s one of the best Vale Tudo and Muay Thai fighters out there.

3. Bayek | Assassin’s Creed | Ubisoft

There’s no doubt that fans are already falling in love with the new Assassin’s Creed Origins. Even a few of our own are starting to enjoy Bayek quite a bit. Luckily for us, that also means that we are using him a lot, and we’d love to see another Bandai Namco and Ubisoft cross-over. After all, it worked quite well with the Soul Calibur franchise, and we all loved it.

Downside is at this moment? It might be some time before we see another hand-to-hand fighter such as Bayek from Assassin’s Creed Origins make a cross-over, if he ever does. If he does, we can certainly hope that his cross-over event could be spectacular, and bring back some classic  Tekken fighters.

Ace-Combat-7-1

2. Pilot | Ace Combat | Bandai Namco

Ever wondered how a piloting game character could fit into a fighting series? That’s where Tekken 7 and Ace Combat come into play. With Ace Combat preparing for its latest release, you may not know that this latest entry could very well be one of the best ones yet, and that’s all thanks to its new approach to aerial combat.

Due to military training, the Ace would make a perfect fit into this franchise. Luckily for us, that also means that we could very well see a fitting cross-over. While we know little about the Ace’s from Ace Combat, we can rest assured this would make a perfect and fitting cross-over event that we can’t wait to see happen.

1. Nanashi | Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse| Atlus

While this is the most far-fetched one out there, it’d be perfect timing for Atlus to team up with Bandai Namco in order to help promote the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V, which has already been announced for the Nintendo Switch, and is expected to release sometime in 2018.

Since the characters do have varied abilities, varied approaches to combat, and unique weaponry. We can only hope to see such a unique character enter the arena. If he does, lets certainly hope that Nanashi could quite easily enter the arena and provide one of the most unique entrances into the series. After all, who doesn’t want to see a demon wielding bad ass enter the fray and dish out one heck of a beat down.

Closing Thoughts

Lets be honest, we all know that there are a lot of characters out there. Some of them are absolutely rare, unique, and enjoyable to have. We have even dug through games through the ages, but when it comes to relevance, we have to decide on what would benefit the developers the most. So today, we decided to grab some of the most notable characters out there, and see just how well they’d fit into the Tekken universe.

    • We definitely struggled as to whom we’d love to see, but because of relevance, we really would love to see Bayek. He’s strong, he’s insanely human, and a very versatile fighter. We certainly hope to see him make his way into a fighting game soon.
